We took the hubby's parents up to Mt. Charleston to eat breakfast. It is hard to believe there are mountains and snow just 20 minutes from the Las Vegas Valley.
Started baking for Thanksgiving today. Have to admit... I'm a little nervous - I've never hosted a Thanksgiving before! I'm a little concerned how the turkey will turn out. Oh, and did I mention it's a 20 lb. turkey for 6 adults??? haha The hubby said, well, if we're going to cook a turkey, might as well do it right! :)
Only my dog could manage to get fake grass (astroturf) all over him and track it in the house.
Guilty face....
Remember this....?? (Back in Feb. or March in NM). I remember being so relieved this home had no real grass after this episode, but Luke has managed to find a way to still track in (fake) grass. haha
The other day we went walking around the big town of Comfort, Tx. Ate some Blue Bell....yum! And found this funny sign- making fun of those historical markers you see all around....
The winery had a huge celebration in honor of veterans and those serving in the military. They set up a "Freedom Room" with photos and stories about military members both past & present. They also had tons of quotes about Freedom displayed all over the tasting areas. Their "Freedom" wine is a blend of 3 types of grapes and part of the proceeds go to support military children by providing scholarships. If you're ever in Comfort, Texas (just outside of San Antonio), stop by! :)
I have been wanting one of these since I lived in Virginia and a coworker had one that she brought to a staff party. I loved how you can change out the ribbon to make it fit in to any season or occasion. Well, I happened to be at Home Goods earlier this week and I found one! And for only $9.99!! I love that store! :)
This is an old pic, but I'm using it since I didn't really have a great picture today. I love the way the sunlight is hitting only one part of the mountain range. This is in Caliente, NV.
